In Roman times cocciopesto was a material often used for the floors in the noble houses and in the thermae of Pompeii to cover walls and ceilings.  "Coccio"(cotto fragments) is crushed and polverized, mixed with resins and other aggregates, colored with natural pigments to obtain any polychrome combination that can be used to create various types of handmade items of different size and shapes.Shaping, the inlay process, its final color and soft surface texture is carry out by specialized Italian craftsmen and entirely by hand made becoming unique.
